February 17,
2000 -- Issue #110 "And
as ye would that men should do to you, Authorities
are baffled at what is being billed as the "Crime of
the Millennium." Authorities announced they have no leads. The gold was thought to have been seen in your area, but so far this report cannot be confirmed. A nationwide search has been started and local residents are asked to keep careful watch for the missing gold. Please report any sightings to the local authorities in your area as quickly as you can. For reference, here is a description of the gold that is reported missing: "And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise." (Luke 6:31) A more contemporary description would be: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." That's right. The world's most valuable gold that is missing is none other than the "Golden Rule"... ...have you seen it lately? Chances are you have not. You see, in a majority of cases, many have started handing out a spiritual faux pas, an imitation, a fake...instead of the real thing. The "Golden Rule" has become the "Nickel Plated Rule." "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" has been replaced with "Treat others however you want, but expect them to treat you with respect." Yes, friend, the crime of the millennium has been committed...and I wonder how many are guilty? How many times are harsh words said without hesitation or remorse? How many times have scheduled appointments been missed, meetings avoided or obligations backed out of because a "better" offer came along? How many "little white lies" have been told, juicy tidbits of gossip passed along and how many times has the truth been watered down? Is this how we want to be treated? How many times are needs seen and yet turned away from? How many selfish things are done in a day? How many lives are affected by "me-centered" thinking? Let's be real honest here. If we looked back over the past 24 hours at our conversations with others, with the way we have treated our friends, family members, co-workers, neighbors and even strangers...would we really want to be treated that way ourselves? Brothers and Sisters in Christ, isn't it about time that we all started living by the Golden Rule again? Isn't it about time that we make every effort, all the time, to genuinely use words and deeds that we would like to have used back at us? The world's most valuable gold is missing. If you see it, then rejoice!!! But, if you have a little of it stashed away somewhere yourself... ...please, pass it on!
Have a "Wonderful DAY in Christ," |
