faith is the substance of things hoped for, It isn't just words. Not just a phrase. This isn't something said in passing... ...it is a defining statement that drives deep at the very heart of the Christian faith. And is touches my heart every time I hear it. For many months now I have been receiving email updates on the condition of a 3 1/2 year old little boy... ...who is stricken with cancer. He has a type of Leukemia that I cannot even pronounce. The most adept mind would find it challenging to even spell some of the treatments administered to this little boy. The emails sharing the updates on him use terms and phrases that only a seasoned physician could understand. This little boy has had more than his share. It hurts to read his grandmother's updates. It's like it takes a piece of my heart every time I read of his pain. Then, when his grandmother shared about her sister who was diagnosed with cancer, it hurt even more. Hearing about her sister's struggles only compounded the the way I ached for the family over the little boy's illness. But, there is more. This lady's 2nd daughter has lesions on her brain and is seeing a specialist. My heart just breaks in two for this family. That's not what this devotional is about, however. This devotional isn't about pity, it's about victory. It isn't about hurting, it's about hoping. It isn't about feeling sorry... ...it's about faith. You see,
without exception, every single update I receive on the condition
of her family ends with this grandmother sharing a simple ..."God is so good." It isn't just words. Not just a phrase. This isn't something said in passing... ...it is a defining statement that drives deep at the very heart of the Christian faith. It's a message for each of us who go through struggles, and we all go through them, it's a message for each of us to remember that the Lord promised we'd never be alone. It's a reminder that when we are at our weakest, there is strength in Him. I believe it's her way of saying, you can have peace even when you're in the middle of a war. And that means you. That's right, YOU. Doesn't matter what you are dealing with, what pain or hurt is in your life. Doesn't matter what hardship you are facing... ...you too can feel His loving arms holding you tight in your time of need. Why? Because God is so good.Have a "Wonderful DAY in Christ," |
