THE ROAD THAT LEADS HOME

"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for,
the evidence of things not seen." - Hebrews 11:1

It was past well past midnight as we made our way down the deserted highway towards our hometown.

My wife and I had been on a rather long journey and were  beginning to grow weary.  I was driving and my eyes were tired.   Our spirits weren't what you would call down, but we definitely  could use a lift.

And the road we were traveling was all but empty.

An occasional flicker of light from an approaching vehicle brightened an otherwise dark and lonely drive.

When I felt like I just couldn't continue driving and my eyes felt  as heavy as lead, we got the lift that we so needed...

...a sign indicated we were just a few miles from home.

A renewed sense of energy came over us and we perked up as we realized the journey was drawing to a much anticipated end.  When  we saw the marker that indicated we had made it to our road, our  hearts almost leaped with joy.

I quickly turned my signal light on to turn and we headed down  the road...

...the road that leads to home.

We arrived and we knew all along was realized again...

...wow, there's just no place like home!

My friend, the road that a committed Christian travels on  sometimes seems just as lonely as the one we found ourselves on  that evening.  Seems like there are few who are willing to travel the  road of separation from the world, the road of all-out commitment  to Christ Jesus.

And, sometimes, we get weak and weary on that road. Sometimes our spiritual eyes grow heavy.  Sometimes our spirits  get, not really down, but just need a lift.

Yet, the road seems dark and deserted, with just an occasional flicker of light.  Sometimes it seems that we just cannot continue on  another mile...

...and then Jesus gives us that lift.  A sign, if you will, that we're  not too away from Home.

Oh, and the joy you and I can experience afresh and anew when we realize that our  journey is drawing closer and closer to the end.   The dark days will soon be behind us and if you look closely, my  friend, if you look closely you can almost see signal lights blinking  in the dark.  You can almost hear Jesus whispering, "Don't stop,  you're almost there.

You see, the road that we are traveling is the road that leads to home.

And I believe, yes, I believe with all of my heart, that when we  arrive in that Heavenly Place and see Jesus face to face and feel the  perfect peace and joy and begin our eternities with Him, that we  will know in fullness that there is...

...just no place like home.

Just a few more miles, my friend.  Just a few more miles.

Have a "Wonderful DAY in Christ,"
