2000 -- Issue #150 "And
God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; It was a dark and gloomy Friday. Things seemed like they just couldn't get any worse. It was as if a grenade had erupted in their lives and rocked their world. He was dead. Jesus was really dead. The disciples must have been filled with utter confusion and disbelief. What now? The man they had dropped everything in order to follow was gone. Where would they go? What would they do? Were their lives in danger, as well? Somehow, in the midst of the turn of events, they had forgotten His words. They had forgotten His promise... ...they had forgotten that Sunday was coming. You see, Jesus had forewarned them about Friday, about His betrayal and crucifixion. But, more than that, He had told them that in three days He would rise from the dead. Victory was on the way! Triumph was just down the road... ...Sunday was coming. My friend, sometimes you and I, likewise, face dark and gloomy days. Know what I mean? Seems like things just couldn't get worse. Yep. The grenade just exploded in our faces. Maybe it's
an illness. Maybe it's a relationship that's
falling apart. Could
be financial troubles, problems on the job
or any of a thousand things that makes us feel like the
sky is falling.
Sometimes just the pressures of everyday life
- the deadlines, the "things to do," the hectic
pace, the lack
of time for yourself, the demands - seem to trap us in Have we forgotten the words of Jesus? Have we forgotten His promises? Be encouraged, my friend. Better days are coming. Victory is on the way. Triumph is just down the road... ...someday, He's going to return, just like He said He would. And there will be no more pain. There will be no more hardships and struggles... ...there will be no more dark and gloomy days. Christian,
