TIME FOR A HAIRCUT

"Therefore, if any man be in Christ,
he is a new creature.
Old things are passed away;
behold, all things are become  new."
- II Corinthians 5:17

Well, I did it.

I let my wife shave my head.  Yep.  It's gone.  Seriously,  it is.  Shaved slick.

I'm talking bowling ball slick.

It all started several weeks ago when I decided that I wanted to have my hair cut "really short."  So, we went to  our favorite beautician and had the shortest haircut of my  life.

I instantly liked it.

In fact, I like it so much that I decided to purchase a hair clipping set so I could keep it trimmed every couple of  weeks.

Today was my first trim.  I think we might have used the  wrong attachment.  Guess that's what the instructions  meant when they read, "Start with the longer attachment  first so you don't cut your hair too short and end up looking  like you've got a bowling ball for a head."

You think? ;-)

So, anyway, my hair had gotten a bit farther away from  what I knew looked right.  It had begun to grow back to the  way it was before.  Since I had decided to make a change  and keep my hair short, we tried out the new hair clipping  set.

And now, although I'm going to stick out tomorrow when  I go outside of my home, I kind of like what I look like.   Even though folks are going to look at me as I pass by, I'm  happy with the change that has been made.  It doesn't  matter to me that my hairstyle (or "lack of hair" style ;-) isn't  the most popular or doesn't fit into other people's ideas of  what it should look like.

I kind of like sticking out.

Now, I'm not about to tell you that you should go and  shave your head.  But, I will tell you this.   If you're a  Christian, you ought to stick out as well.

That's right.  When you leave your home, you ought to  stick out among the crowd because of the way you  look...the words you speak and the things you do.  Folks  ought to look at you as you pass by, noting that something  is different, because they see joy and peace on your face
and in your demeanor.

They ought to be able to notice some changes in you  from the way you used to look.

You know, sometimes, if we're not careful, we do what my hair had begun to do.  We get a bit farther away from  what we know is right.  We begin to start going back to the  way we were before we came to Christ.  But, my friends,  we decided to make a change when we accepted the Lord  into our lives.

Let's make sure we stick out in the world, shall we?

We are to be a peculiar people, in the world, but not of  the world.  Christ has called us to be different, the salt and  the light.  You and I.  Impacting the world for Jesus.

How about it, Christian?  How's your life this morning?   Are you living for the Lord in all areas of your life...at home,  at work, at play...in front of your children, your spouse,  your co-workers, your friends, neighbors and family  members?  Or, have you gotten a bit farther away from  what you know is right?

Are you giving Christ Jesus your very best...

...or is it time for a haircut?
