It was one of the first cartoon movies that I watched as a child.

Peter Pan has become a classic children's movie and is  adored by kids and parents alike, around the world.  Its  timeless, universal appeal has delighted viewers for  generations.  Heck, it's even got a brand of peanut butter  named after it! ;-)

Peter Pan is the story of a little boy who doesn't want to  grow up.  He convinces a few of his mates to follow him to  "Never Land" - a place where you "never" have to grow  up, thus remaining a child forever.  Peter Pan and the  "Lost Boys," the group of kids in Never Land, desire to be  able to spend their time doing kid stuff...

...playing games and doing things their own way.

Now, Peter Pan is a cute story.  Like I said, it has  brought laughter and enjoyment to kids of all ages for  many years.  As cute as Peter Pan is as a children's story,  it is no laughing matter when believers in Christ Jesus live in a "Spiritual Never Land."

I call them "Peter Pan Christians."  

You know the type...those that don't want to grow up. They're the gossipers and backbiters, those that like to stir  up trouble and cause discord.  Yep.  These "Peter Pan  Christians" are the ones who don't have a single thing to  say about how to reach the lost for Christ, but they'll argue 'til they're blue in the face over what color the carpet  should be in the new sanctuary.  They don't want to "grow up" in Christ.

Know what I mean?

They watch filthy movies that curse the Lord's name  and are filled with graphic nudity on Saturday nights, and  then say their "Amens" a few hours later in Sunday  School.  Something isn't right here, my friends.  These  Peter Pan Christians tell their dirty jokes and let a few  curse words slip out here and there, without giving it a  second thought.  They would rather read the newspaper  than the Bible, they'd rather talk about the weather than  the Lord, and they rather be at the Lake than in the House  of God.

They just don't want to grow up.  

The only time they pray is when they have a need or  they feel guilty because the preacher told them they ought  to pray each day.  They give their leftovers to God, not just  their leftover money, but also their leftover time.  Peter Pan Christians are self-centered, always wanting things their  own way.  Those living in a "Spiritual Never Land" are  quick to point out the flaws and imperfections in others  (behind their backs, of course!), but they'd march you off to  the gallows if you mentioned something they were doing  wrong.

Isn't it about time Christians stop playing games?   Living for Jesus is too important to be acting like kids.  It's  time to grow up!

The Lord needs Soldiers.  He needs those who are  real, those who are committed to Him.  The lost and dying  and headed for hell souls are watching.  They just need  something to believe in.

Are our lives going to tell them the Greatest Story Ever  Told?  Or, the story of Peter Pan?
