#22 "He
that saith he abideth in Him ought himself I love writing. In particular, I love writing about Jesus. I love telling His story. It's my passion. It brings me great joy - especially when I find that the Lord has allowed me to encourage someone in my writing. This past week was an amazing one for me. God was so gracious in leading several of our subscribers to email me words of encouragement. (For those of you who have written, "thank you!" You will never fully understand how much you encourage me!) All of the emails I receive are special. Each are stored safely on my hard drive in a file simply entitled, "Encouragement." That's what they represent to me. One subscriber sent an email that really struck a chord with me as he described how a particular devotional had ministered to him. Before I finished reading it, tears were filling my eyes. He told of how my devotionals "touched people's hearts", and then it hit me...he had just touched mine. And so, the Lord began to speak again, this time on the subject of writing devotionals. Andy had just written a devotional to me...just simply by encouraging me in serving the Lord. You see, that's really what a devotional is. It's something that is used to point others toward Christ. A devotional is a tool to spark an interest, excitement and enthusiasm for a closer walk with Jesus. It's designed to ignite some fire within us that burns for the Lord. And you can write devotionals in many different ways. Andy wrote a devotional by sending an email to encourage me in my ministry. My buddy Dave writes devotionals by making Christian films. A friend of mine, Janee', writes devotionals by raising children in the ways of the Lord. A member of my Sunday School class, Raymond, writes devotionals by sharing the Gospel at the factory he works at. Still others I know write devotionals by standing for what is right, being an example to others, doing all of the "little things" behind the scenes, showing the Love of Christ to those in need, and many, many other ways of living for the Lord. You can write a devotional today, as well. Christ has given each of us a unique ability to touch the lives of someone today. I'll never be able to show kindness to your neighbor down the street - but you can. I'll never be able to share the love of Christ with someone you work with - but you can. I'll never be able to tell your lost friend or family member about the saving grace of our Lord - but you can. Out of the 2,500 people on my mailing list that is sent out, literally all across the world, you are the only one who can do these things. And so, why not write a devotional today? Write it in the things you say and the things you do. Write it in your home, at your workplace, at the grocery store - in all the places that you will be today...write a devotional, write it with your life... ...and write it in such a way that it will tell His story!Have a "Wonderful DAY in Christ," Jimmy D.
