PREPARING A PLACE

"In my father's house are many mansions."

It's like a little piece of heaven.

My wife and I, as expectant parents, have been working on a nursery for our baby.  We have been preparing a place for him for his arrival sometime at the end of October.

Precious Moments has been our theme.

Like I said, it's like a little piece of heaven.  Adorable Precious Moments characters adorn everything from the painted murals on the walls to the night light and the crib sheets.  Bible verses and inspirational phrases cover the lamp and the comforter and the bassinet.

There are angels and teddy bears and baseballs and footballs everywhere.  With the wonderful help and gifts of family and friends, everything is just about in place.

We've stocked up on diapers and clothing and baby wipes and all those things that a newborn baby needs upon his arrival.  For the past 3-4 months we've been making preparations.  We want everything to be perfect when we bring our baby home.

One of the finishing touches is a hand-painted light switch cover that reads, "Jacob's Room."

It won't be long now until he moves in.

You know, all of this preparation for the arrival of our son reminds me that we aren't the only ones preparing a place.  You see, Jesus is also preparing a place.  A place for you and I.

In fact, it's our "little piece of Heaven." :-)

When I think about how much time and effort my wife and I have spent in preparing a temporary home for little Jacob it really excites me to think about what the Lord must be doing.  You see, the home that He is preparing for you and I is a permanent one.

I can just see Him now, getting everything done just right.  After all, He wants it to be perfect when He calls His people home.

Perhaps this morning, if we could just take a peek into heaven, perhaps this morning we would see Jesus putting on the finishing touches...

...as he puts up a light switch in God's Mansion with our names on them.

It won't be long now until we move in.

Have a "Wonderful DAY in Christ,"
