MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE

"Great is our Lord, and of great power:
His understanding is infinite."

God knows what He's doing.  I know that this is not an entirely new concept, but decided that it is a great way to start the day off.  Let me repeat it...God knows what He's doing.

Sometimes in our stress filled, hectic days it is good to remember that He is still in control.  We look around and see things in our lives that we perceive as hardships or inconveniences and forget that there is often more than meets the eye.  What we see as a "curse" may in reality be a blessing.  Things aren't always as they seem.

Reminds me of a funny experience that happened in my life not too long ago that I would like to share with you.  A young couple that my wife and I are friends with came over one Friday night to play some games.  We gathered around our living room coffee table and settled in for the evening.  My wife was sitting to my left, my friend was across from me, and his wife was to my right.   We were having great fellowship when I felt a hand brush up against my leg, and instead of quickly moving on, the hand rested on me and began gently caressing my leg.  I realized that from the seating arrangement that it was impossible for my wife to be the one rubbing my leg!  I asked aloud, "Who is that rubbing my leg?"  For a few seconds no one said anything, then my friends wife blurted out, "That's not your leg, that's Phil's leg!"

Needless to say, her face turned the color of a beet.  We haven't seen her since. (only kidding)

Sometimes things aren't as they seem.  Sometimes there is more than meets the eye.  Instead of complaining about the difficult or aggravating circumstances that we sometimes face, let us thank God that He is in control...and He knows what is best.

Just a few short days ago, God showed me this very clearly.  My wife and I were headed out on a business trip when a car pulled in front of us and began to drive incredibly slow.  (you know how irritating that is, right!?)  I began to get impatient and wanted to pass them, but, because of traffic, was unable to.  It delayed us about fifteen minutes until they finally exited our road.  We continued on and soon came to a huge wreck.  Apparently it had happened about fifteen minutes earlier.  It didn't appear that anyone was hurt, but if we had been on time, then we probably would have been in the middle of it and who knows what the result might have been.

I'll say it again, God knows what He's doing.

Have a "Wonderful DAY in Christ,"
