January 24,
2001 -- Issue #303 "Whereas
ye know not what shall be on the morrow, Have
you ever noticed that regardless of how much you grow as a
believer in Christ... ...the
Lord never stops teaching you new things? And
how sometimes these "new things" aren't really
"new" at all, but rather things He has taught you
before, perhaps many times, but you just needed a gentle
reminder? I
noticed again this morning. I
usually write my devotional for the following day each night
before I go to sleep.
There are times, like last night, that I am very
tired or don't feel well, so I decide to write the
devotional "first thing tomorrow morning" instead. I
meant to get up this early this morning, write the
devotional and send it out without missing a beat. Like
I said, I MEANT to do this.
It has NEVER worked out like I intended when I don't
write the devotional the night before.
And, of course, the Lord reminded me of this last
night.
And, as you can see, I didn't listen. I
went to sleep last night, woke up this morning and sat down
before my laptop ready for God to inspire me about something
to write. Boy,
did He inspire me! IMMEDIATELY,
my 10 week old baby boy began screaming for
attention.
What is interesting about this is that Jacob USUALLY
sleeps after his bath for several hours.
Not this morning! So,
now I am typing a line or two of this devotional, then
attending to him, then typing a line or two of this
devotional.
God's
message is once again clear:
don't put off until tomorrow what you can do today.
Sometimes "tomorrow" doesn't go as planned! Christian,
is there some task or ministry that the Lord has laid on
your heart that you have been MEANING to do?
Is there some person that needs forgiveness or relationship
that needs restoring that you MEAN to get around to?
What about some lost soul who you MEAN to share the
gospel with sometime? Whatever
it is that the Lord has spoken to you about as you ponder
this devotional, don't delay.
Don't put it off until later.
There isn't a moment to lose. Let's
all make an effort to turn those "I MEANT TO"s
into "I DID IT"s, shall we? And it starts right NOW! Have a "Wonderful DAY in Christ,"Jimmy D. Brown \o/ Praise Jesus! |
