April 5,
2001 -- Issue #349 "Then
spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I
didn't realize it for a long time... ...but
God is awake even at six o'clock in the morning! I
had always suspected that He was up, but I am not a morning
person, so I've never really confirmed it until yesterday.
:-) The
reason I know that God is awake at six o'clock in the
morning is because I was awake at six o'clock in the morning
(for the first time in a long time!) and He spoke to me. My
pastor and I have decided to play basketball together a
couple of times a week.
And, between both of our busy schedules, the only
time that seemed to work was 6 a.m. So,
yesterday morning, we went out to my driveway before most
people on my road were up and began to "hoop it
up."
Now, with the recent time change, it was still dark
out when we began.
We needed to turn on my outside lights... ...only
neither of them was working. So,
I went into my house, found a couple of new light bulbs and
went back outside.
Brother Charles kindly offered to put in the new
bulbs.
As he screwed one of the bulbs in, it suddenly lit
up.
After he had stared at the bright light for several
seconds, he made the comment, "After looking at the
light, it's hard to see anything else clearly." And,
he's right.
After staring at a bright light bulb for several
seconds, when you look away, everything else is dim in
comparison.
Things that once had your attention were a bit harder
to see.
The light kind of took over and was the only real
thing you could focus on. You
know, Jesus said, "I am the Light of the World."
And, just like the 'ol light bulb that my pastor
inserted, "After looking at THE Light, it's hard to see
anything else clearly." Am
I right?
The more you look at Jesus, the more dim
the things of the world become.
Things that once had your attention and were a
priority over your relationship with God become a bit harder
to see.
The Light of Jesus kind of takes over and becomes the
only thing you focus on. Know
what I mean? And,
here's the deal about that light bulb.
When you stop looking at it long enough, everything
else comes back into prominence and focus.
Same thing goes with the Lord, if you stop looking at
Him (spending time in prayer and in the Word of God), then
the things of the world come back into prominence in your
life. Christian,
what about your life this morning?
Do you see the Light? Have a "Wonderful DAY in Christ," |
