April 26,
2001 -- Issue #361 "And
he sat down, and called the twelve, It
has become one of the more popular advertising slogans in
the fast food industry. Burger
King's "Have it Your Way" jingle epitomizes their
philosophy of preparing your order *exactly* the way that
you want it.
It's delivered fresh, up to your specifications.
You want mustard?
No problem.
Got a special date planned with your wife and want to
hold the onions? :-)
Whatever you want, at Burger King you can "Have
it Your Way." I
don't eat a lot of fast food, but I find Burger King's
approach a refreshing one.
It seems like everywhere I go these days I am met
with poor service.
From the rude, unfriendly faces at the grocery store,
to the abrupt and thankless cashier at the department store,
I am finding that customer service is becoming increasingly
poor.
I was taught the "customer comes first" and
the "customer is always right." Those
ideals seem to be a thing of the past. But,
not at Burger King.
At Burger King you can "Have it Your Way."
At Burger King you come first.
At Burger King you can expect to be served and
treated like you ought to be. You
know, as I thought about Burger King tonight... ...I
started craving a Whopper and fries! :-) Just
kidding.
As I thought about Burger King's slogan, "Have
it Your Way," I realized once again what Jesus has
called us to do.
He has called us to serve others.
In fact, He told the disciples "if any man
desire to be first, the same shall be last of all, and
SERVANT OF ALL." (Matthew 9:35) I
believe if Jesus had been walking the streets of our modern
cities instead of the hills near Galilee, I believe Jesus
would have pointed to Burger King and told the disciples,
"if you want to be first in My Kingdom, you've got to
tell others 'Have it Your Way.'" That
was Jesus' message.
That we are to use our God given talents and
resources to serve those around us.
Not to hoard up and keep to ourselves, but to freely
and generously share to those who are in need.
Aren't
you glad that God doesn't hoard up His grace and store away
His mercy and lock up His forgiveness?
Aren't you glad that He didn't hold back His Son and
keep Him from serving YOU and ME on the Cross? Jesus
came to serve.
And He has called us to serve as well.
What about you, Christian?
Do you serve those around you?
Do you pour our your life's resources upon those less
fortunate than yourself?
Do you gladly use your talents, resources, abilities,
finances, possessions, and position to help others? Today
is a GREAT day to spend serving those at your workplace, in
your home and about your community.
Why not pour some of yourself out today on those
around you as your cheerfully tell them... ..."Have
it Your Way." Have a "Wonderful DAY in Christ," |
