#364 "All
nations whom thou has made I still
tease him about it. He was
driving down the road when I guess he suddenly felt like
singing to the Lord.
He began singing the praise chorus, "Glorify Thy
Name." Know the
one? "Father,
I love You, I worship and adore You.
Glorify thy name in all the earth.
Glorify thy name.
Glorify thy name. Glorify thy name in all the
earth." Beautiful
song about our awesome God receiving the glory that is due
His holy name. Only this
guy messed up the words.
He was
singing along and the words came out all wrong,
"Father, I love you, I worship and adore you.
Glorify MY name in all the earth." Instead of
singing, "Glorify THY name in all the earth," he
accidentally sang, "Glorify MY name in all the
earth."
A HUGE difference in the message! And,
although I tease him about it, we both know it was an
innocent slip. But, it
DOES remind us that our lives are to be about bringing glory
to the Father and not ourselves.
You see,
many times people want to have the spotlight shining on
themselves.
They want the attention and the credit and the
praise, instead of pointing to the ONLY One who is worthy of
these things.
They want the accolades for their successes and
victories and accomplishments, instead of giving glory to
the One who provided all of those things. Many times
God puts us on the stage of life.
There is an audience watching the performance that we
put on.
God allows us to have successes and high points for
all to see what HE can do through us.
Apart from Him we are nothing.
He alone deserves the praise for the things we excel
at, for the prosperity we experience, for the milestones we
reach, for the achievements we attain. After all,
He is the One who gave us our talents and abilities.
He sharpened and honed our skills.
He put us in positions of opportunity.
Everything we have came from Him. And so,
Christian, what about today?
Will you try to focus everyone's attention on
yourself or your Savior?
Will you brag about your successes and
accomplishments or give glory to God for allowing them to
happen? What kind
of song will your life sing today, "Glorify MY name in
all the earth..." ...or,
"Glorify THY name in all the earth"? To God be the glory! Have a "Wonderful DAY in Christ," |
