ALL CLEANED UP AND SOMEWHERE TO GO

"Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD:
though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool."
- Isaiah 1:18

A few days ago Paula and I were at Craighead Forest, a public park in a neighboring city, with my nephews playing some games.  We always enjoy getting together with my nephews - it keeps us feeling young, because they keep us moving the entire time we are together.

It was a beautiful day at the park.  The fall colors of the landscape shown brightly against the afternoon sun.  The water of the lake was glistening with a silver glow.  Leaves were falling and a nice breeze was in the air.  It was a picturesque afternoon in Arkansas.

As I said, we were playing games with my nephews and one of the games we played was baseball.  Paula and I were playing my dad and my eight year old nephew, CJ.   CJ was pitching and Paula was at bat.  He threw the ball, she swung, actually hit the ball and began running towards first base.  CJ went to pick up the ball, which was near the first base line, and  they met up about two feet from the base.  Suddenly  CJ tripped.  The poor little guy fell flat on his face!  What made matters worse for him is because he fell in Paula's pathway, she tripped and landed with a thud on top of him.

Now, I'll be real honest, I was silently praying that CJ, and Paula , were ok, but I couldn't help but laughing, because it was one of the funniest things I had ever seen.  I ran over to them and CJ was crying.  Paula and I helped him up.  He was covered in dirt.  I mean covered.  He had dirt all over his hands.  His face was covered with dirt.  He was even spitting out dirt because he had gotten a mouth full of it.  It was in his nose, eyes and hair.  He was filthy!

We dusted Him off and cleaned him up.  We comforted him, wiped away his tears and soon he was back out on the field.

That's exactly what Jesus does to us.

When we fall and get ourselves dirty with sin...

He helps us to our feet...

Cleans us up...

Comforts us...

Wipes the tears from our eyes...

And then sends us back out onto the field of life.

"Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool."
