2002 -- Issue #510 "If
we live in the Spirit, I suppose
every youngster does it at one time or another. I know I
did. When I was
a young boy, I would find myself pitching rocks out into the
lake.
I liked throwing them out to see how far I could toss
them into the lake. And the
result was the same every single time. The rock
would make a splash and disappear into the water.
It faded from sight and I never saw it again.
But the impact of that rock left behind a ripple that
would grow larger and larger as it spread across the water. The rock's
moment was a brief one.
And it soon passed silently and quickly as it left
the scene.
But, the effect of that rock was seen for some time
in the ripple that continued to reach out across the surface
of the water.
Long after the rock was gone, its impact was still
felt. Christian,
you are that rock.
And the lake is the lives of those around you.
What kind of impact will you make upon them?
How will the effect of your life be seen after you
are gone? You see,
our lives can count for Christ.
We can make a difference.
When we live our lives for Jesus, then we can leave
behind something that lives on long after we are gone... ...the
ripple of good works. But, it
doesn't happen by chance.
It takes a heart that is passionate about Christ and
a desire to serve Him by serving others.
It takes a will that is surrendered and yielded to
the Father's.
It takes eyes that see the needs around us and hands
that reach quickly to meet them.
It takes feet willing to walk away from our comfort
zone and into the battlefield.
It takes mouths anxious to share the love of Jesus. It takes
someone like you. Christian,
our lives are brief.
James says they are like "a vapor."
Here one minute and gone the next.
We will pass silently and quickly from the scene of
this world.
What will we leave behind? And more
importantly, what will we forward ahead? "But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal." - Matthew 6:20 Have a "Wonderful DAY in Christ,"Jimmy D. Brown \o/ Praise Jesus! |
