January 14,
2002 -- Issue #511 "Before
I formed thee in the belly, I read an
interesting report tonight that I found to once again show
the awesome power of God. A man by
the name of Ryan J. Sokol of the statistics department of
Texas A&M University calculated the odds of a specific
individual being born.
When I say a "specific individual" I am
referring to, for example, someone EXACTLY like YOU. Sokol
estimated the total number of fertile men and women in the
world, calculated the number of different genetic
possibilities a man might contribute, adjusted for the
number of hours of female fertility each month and then
factored in a long list of other considerations.
The bottom line of Ryan's length report said,
"The chance that you, meaning exactly you, would ever
be born are 1 in 1.3 times ten to the twenty-ninth
power." Translation?
The odds of you being born are
130,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 to 1.
To give that something to compare to, the odds of you
becoming President of the United States are only 115,191,743
to 1. Do you see
how unique you are?
God made you to be you.
There is no one else quite like you.
Stanislaus Lec said, "The finger of God never
leaves identical fingerprints."
When He formed you, He made someone new and original,
unlike anyone else. I don't
know about you, but that excites me.
To think that God would be so specific, so precise in
creating me is absolutely unimaginable.
And yet, that is exactly how carefully and
wonderfully He made each of us.
We didn't happen by chance.
He purposed in His will that you and I would be born
into this world. Christian,
when you look in the mirror today don't think, "Oh, I
hate my hair" or "I'm overweight" or "no
one cares" or any of those things that we sometimes
think out of low self-esteem. Instead,
think "130,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 to 1... ...wow, am I unique because God created me that way!" Have a "Wonderful DAY in Christ,"Jimmy D. Brown \o/ Praise Jesus! |
