February 15,
2002 -- Issue #527 "What
time I am afraid, I will trust in thee." NOTE: It just seems like TRUST is something God is wanting to convey to us. It just keeps popping up. So, I want to share on that theme again today. I read an
interesting story tonight that I wanted to pass onto you.
Maybe you're going through a difficult time right
now.
Maybe it's time to remember again, "Tis So Sweet
To Trust In Jesus." That
classic hymn was written by Louisa M.R. Stead.
And it was written during one of the darkest hours
imaginable. Louisa
Stead was born in England.
She felt the call of God upon her life for missionary
service and headed for America.
She arrived in 1871.
Four years later, she met and married her husband.
They had a little girl, Lily. When the
little girl was four years old, the family decided to spend
the day at the beach of Long Island Sound in New York. While they
were enjoying a picnic lunch, they suddenly hear cries of
help and spotted a small boy drowning in the sea.
Louisa's husband immediately jumped up and entered
the water.
Tragedy struck.
The struggling boy, in his fright, pulled his rescuer
under the water with him. They both
drowned before the terrified eyes of wife and daughter. As Louisa
struggled in the coming days with why this had happened,
these words of comfort flowed from her life... "Tis
so sweet to trust in Jesus, I can't
speak for Louisa Stead, but I'm guessing if she were here
today and could talk to you as you go through your tough
situation, I'm guessing she'd say to you... "Tis
so sweet to trust in Jesus, Have a "Wonderful DAY in Christ," |
