February 18,
2002 -- Issue #528 "If
we live in the Spirit, I searched
all over for it.
And yet, it
could not be found anywhere.
There were a few traces of it (empty case and lyric
sheet), but I wasn't able to find it. My CD
(Compact Disc) was missing.
And as hard as I looked to find it, it just wasn't
very obvious where I had left it. And no one
else knew where it was either.
You just couldn't see it anyplace you looked. Finally, it
hit me.
I left it at the church.
Sure enough, the next time I went to the church it
was there.
Right where I had left it.
And so, I
picked it up.
And this time I took it with me. You know,
it's very sad to say, but many believers treat their
Christianity very much the same way... ...they
leave it at church. They walk
out the door and if you searched their lives for evidence of
their relationship with Christ, you'd have a hard time
finding anything. They don't
spend much (if any) time reading and studying their Bible.
The only time they pray is when they have a need that
they want God to meet.
They don't witness.
They don't encourage others.
They don't do their job "heartily as unto the
Lord."
Try as you
might, it just isn't obvious where their Christianity is at. Instead,
you find griping and gossipping.
You find selfishness and pride.
It's easy to spot indifference and neglect.
And it's clear why there is so little Christian fruit
and good works in their lives... ...they
left it at church. Christian,
how about you and I?
Are we different?
Is our relationship with Christ obvious to others?
Is it out in the open, in plain view for everyone to
see whether we are at work or at home, whether at the
grocery store or playing golf? Can others
see Christ in you and I?
Can they see our relationship with Jesus in
everything we say and do? Or, have we
left it at church? Something
to think about today.
And, if the answer that we find when examining our
lives is, "Yes, I have left my relationship with Christ
at church," then there is only one thing to do... ...go back
to church and pick it up. And this
time, take it with us everywhere we go. Jimmy D. Brown \o/ Praise Jesus! |
