March 4,
2002 -- Issue #537 "Can
two walk together, except they be agreed?" One minute
he's walking ahead of me... ...the next
minute he's lagging behind. :o) Jacob
learned to walk several months ago.
He has now learned to run. :o) Paula and I
took to him to the mall over the weekend to pick up a few
items and it was there that I noticed... ...one
minute he's walking ahead of me, and the next minute he's
lagging behind me. When we are
in public, naturally, we hold Jacob's hand as he walks.
Much of the time he was walking out ahead of us,
trying to pull us up to the speed he was traveling. And other
times, he began to drag his feet and we'd have to kind of
coerce him into walking a little faster. Sometimes we'd even
have to pick him up and almost pull him along. But, then
there were those harmonious times.
Those times when Jacob was in step with us.
Those times when he walked at the right pace.
Those times when we walked together, not one in front
or behind the other, but times when we walked side by side. You know, I
have found that, as Christians, we do very much the same
thing with our Father in Heaven. Yep, there
are those times when we run out ahead of Him.
We get impatient waiting on Him to do what we think
He ought to do, so we try to kind of pull Him along by
getting ahead of His plans.
We try to do something that He hasn't fully prepared
us to do, or we try to walk through a door that He is in the
process of closing because it's not for us. And there
are those times when we drag our spiritual feet.
Those times when He wants us to do something and we
just aren't ready to do it.
There are times, if we're not real careful, that He
has a plan and a purpose for us to fulfill, and we're so
busy doing our own thing, wrapped up in our own agenda, that
we fail to walk in pace with Him. But, oh how
sweet are those times when we walk in harmony with Him!
Those times when we are in step with everything He
has for us.
Those times when we walk together with Him, not ahead
of Him or behind Him, but times when we walk side by side. Even hand
in hand. Where are
you at today, Christian?
See, here's the truth of the matter.
There are three options... You are
walking ahead of Him. How will you walk with the Savior today? Have a "Wonderful DAY in Christ," |
