March 26,
2002 -- Issue #546 "My
son, give me thine heart, We sat down
for a nice meal at one of our favorite restaurants...Olive
Garden!
Yum, yum. :o) And, as
usual, the waitress brought Jacob, our sixteen month old, a
coloring sheet and 3 crayons. He played
with the crayons as we waited on our meals, and I guess he
noticed that I was looking at them.
So, with a sweet smile on his face, he picked up
those crayons and placed them into my hand... ...but he
wouldn't let go of them. Over and
over again, he took those crayons and place them into my
hand, but not once was he willing to let go of them.
He wanted to give them to me, but he just wasn't
willing to release control of them. He wanted
to please his father, but not bad enough to let go of his
crayons. Now, that
brings up a logical comparison...don't we many times do that
same thing to our Father? We notice
that He is looking at something in our lives. Maybe it's a
sin that we haven't confessed.
It could be our time and our talent?
Maybe it's our finances?
It could be some commitment that we know He wants us
to make or some step of faith we know He wants us to take. And we see
Him looking at the area of our lives and we want so much to
give it to Him.
We place it in His hands... ...but we
never really let go. Maybe it
will cost us, or will inconvenience us or will require a
sacrifice, whatever it is...we just never let go. We really
want to surrender it to the Father, we really want to give
it all to Him, we really want Him to be pleased, but we just
aren't willing to release control. I'd like to
be able to say that little Jacob finally let go of those
crayons and willingly gave them to his daddy as a token of
his love...but he didn't. Will the
same be said of you and I?
Jacob is sixteen months old and working with
crayons... ...you and
I are adults who are supposed to be surrendering our all in
all to our Father.
Christian,
what is it that the Father is eyeing in your life? What is
it that you know He wants you to place in His hands?
Are you willing to surrender it to Him, or will you
insist on refusing to let go. Today, I
encourage you to spend time with the Father and ask Him what
it is in your life that He desires.
And then, as a token of your love... ...let go of your crayons. Have a "Wonderful DAY in Christ," |
