March 28,
2002 -- Issue #548 "In
my Father's house are many mansions: As I write
this devotional, I am sitting on top of a bed in the
guestroom at my mother-in-law's home. We are
having hardwood floors installed at our house and have no
furniture available for us to sleep on.
Now, as I
sit here tonight, the surroundings are familiar to me.
I've been here many times before.
I know where all the important things are... ...the
refrigerator, the bathroom and the remote control. :o) My
mother-in-law's home is beautiful.
It is very spacious and our accommodations are more
than comfortable here.
We have our own room, with our own private bath and
everything we need. But, this
is not my home. It is
wonderful and beautiful and comfortable, but it's not my
home.
It's familiar and I know my way around and it
provides a place for us to stay, but it's not my home. It doesn't
matter how nice it is, or how inviting Paula's parents are,
or how many times I've been here, this place is not my home. I love it
here.
I enjoy it here.
I don't mind being here. But, it's not my home. And
tomorrow,
I'll be going home.
My place will be finished and I'll be able to move
back in.
My, how I'm looking forward to it! You know,
that's the way I feel about this world.
My surroundings here in this world are familiar to
me.
I know where are the important things in life are
found... ...like
friends, family and ministry. My world,
although imperfect, is a wonderful one, filled with beauty.
I have more than I need here -- my life is very
spacious and my accommodations are more than comfortable.
I have plenty of room and everything I need. But, this
world is not my home.
It's familiar and I know my way around and it
provides a place for me to stay, but it's not my home. It doesn't
matter how nice my life is, how inviting the things of this
world are, this place is not my home. I love it
here.
I enjoy it here.
I don't mind being here. But, it's not my home.
I'm just here for a short visit. You see, my
home is in heaven.
Jesus has told me that He is there preparing a place
for me.
I've got a place reserved for me in the Father's
mansion.
I'm just here for a short visit.
Someday, I'm going home. My, I can't
wait! How about you? Have a "Wonderful DAY in Christ," |
