April 25,
2002 -- Issue #565 "Trust
in the LORD with all thine heart; One
of the lessons that I learned first in my Christian walk,
and still remains significant today, was to trust God and
obey Him. In
fact, one of my favorite hymns was "Trust and
Obey." When
my wife and I married, the first church we attended together
as husband and wife loved to sing that song.
Seems like we sung it every other week (literally!).
Which was fine with me.
I liked the hymn, and I certainly thought the truth
behind it was an important one to remember... "Trust
and obey, for there's no other way, to be happy in Jesus,
than to trust and obey." That
about sums up what we are to do as believers -- trust the
Lord and obey Him.
That kind of encapsulates everything into one quick
summation.
Trust and obey. I
was reminded recently of that truth in a new way.
A small boy was singing that old hymn favorite.
Only he was singing a slightly different version.
He was singing "Trust and Obey," with a
slight twist... "Trust
and Okay." I
like that.
Only will things truly be "okay" in our
lives when we trust and obey the Lord Jesus.
When we, in faith, commit our lives to Him, trusting
Him and depending upon His precious care, it is then that
everything is "okay." Christian,
what about your life today?
Do you have the peace, hope and joy of the Lord?
Spiritually speaking, is everything "okay"?
Are you trusting Jesus for the things in your life
today? Maybe
it's time to dust off the hymnal, tune up our singing voices
and let loose with that old hymn favorite. Only with a
slight twist... ..."Trust
and Okay." |
