April 29,
2002 -- Issue #567 "Pray
without ceasing." Things
were different back then. Today
we have digital radios in our vehicles and you simply click
on a preset button or the "scan" button to take
you to the exact station setting.
We found out that FM 108 was really FM 107.9 on our
digital dial. But,
it wasn't always that way. I
remember the first vehicle I ever owned.
It was, how shall I say this, a piece of junk.
Seriously.
It was.
And the radio wasn't much better. What
I remember about the radio is you had to turn the dial to
find the radio station you wanted to listen to.
And, if you didn't have it exactly in the right
position, you couldn't hear a thing because of all the
static.
So,
whenever I wanted to listen to the radio, I had to carefully
take the time to adjust the dial.
I had to tune in to the station to remove the static.
Then, and only then, could I hear the music. My
friend, if you and I are ever going to hear the sweet music
of heaven, we've got to remove the static!
If we are ever going to listen to our Savior's voice,
we've got to get tuned in to God! First
things first, we've got to be in the right position.
That is, we've got to adjust our lives so that they
might line up in the will of the Father.
That requires removing the static.
You know, things that seem to cause the Lord's voice
to break up so that we cannot understand what He is saying. And
static comes in a lot of different shapes and sizes.
Sin, quite obviously, is static.
Not only does it keep us from understanding the Lord,
it turns the sweet music off altogether!
What else?
ANYTHING that is more important in our lives than the
Lord is static.
ANYTHING that is a priority over God is static.
That could be our families, our jobs, our
entertainment...anything. We've
got to tune in to God.
We've got to switch those dials over to Him.
Everything about us must be focused on hearing from
God and lining our lives up to His Holy Will. My
friend, God's station is playing 24 hours a day.
He is speaking to those willing to tune in today.
He longs to instruct and guide and encourage and
motivate any who will remove the static from their lives. What
about you?
Will you go about your life content to hear a few
broken words from God amidst all the static in your life? Or,
do you long to have an intimate, close relationship with the
One who gave His life on Calvary? Get tuned in today! Have a "Wonderful DAY in Christ," |
