November 24,
1999 -- Issue #57 "Thou
preparest a table before me Last spring, an F4 tornado ripped through our small town. It did extensive damage, destroying homes, businesses and lives. It was only by the grace of God that it did not completely wipe the town off of the map. You see, the tornado never even touched down. It came through our town at approximately three o'clock in the morning and hovered just above tree level as it made its way past us. The winds created at the base of the tornado were what caused all of the damage. Experts say if it had been on the ground for the hour or so that it was active, then it would have utterly demolished Manila, Arkansas. I remember watching a television newscast the next day and the announcer was giving just a brief introduction to the story of the tornado in Manila, and, after giving a few details, he said, "There's more to follow." That phrase just kind of stuck with me. Then, it hit mit. God's got that same message attached to each of the blessings that He sends our way, "There's more to follow." "Yes, I forgive your sins, but there's more to follow." "I give you hope and peace and joy and love, but there's more to follow." "I kept you safe on the roads today, there's more to follow." "I watched over your children tonight, there's more to follow." "I give you eyesight and hearing and the ability to walk and move, and there's more to follow." "I walked you through that tragedy, through that hardship, and I helped you through that difficult time, there's more to follow." "I answered that prayer, there's more to follow." "I poured out my grace and mercy on you, there's more to follow." And perhaps the best of all... "Someday,
you're going to die and leave this world behind, but there's
more to follow." |
