May 31,
2002 -- Issue #579 "In
my Father's house are many mansions: Earlier
tonight we left our 18 month old son, Jacob, at his aunt and
uncle's house. We
left him with the promise that we'd be back to get him later
in the evening. I
got wound up in my work and didn't realize how quickly the
time had passed.
As I was in the middle of a project, my wife came
into the room and said, "It's almost time to go get
Jacob.
Get ready." I
began working on the final stuff that I hoped to complete
before we went, and the hour drew closer and closer.
And, then, in the twinkling of an eye, it was there. My
wife announced with great happiness, "It's time to go
get him." And
that's exactly what we did.
His face lit up with joy as we entered the room and
picked him up. You
know, Jesus left His disciples behind when He went to be
with the Father after His earthly ministry was completed. He
left them -- and us -- with a promise that He'd be back
later to get us. And
you know, I can just imagine that -- right now -- God the
Father is saying to Him, "It's almost time to go get
them.
Get ready." And
that's what Jesus is doing.
He's getting ready. He's
preparing a place for you and I and every other man, woman,
boy and girl who know Him as Savior and Lord. And
the hour draws closer and closer to His return. Someday,
in the twinkling of an eye, it will be here. God
will announced with great happiness, "It's time to go
get them."
And that's exactly what Jesus will do. The
trumpet will sound, the skies will split and we will be
caught up in the air with our blessed Savior to be with Him
forever and ever. My,
oh my, how our faces will light up with joy when we see
Jesus! Christian,
no one knows when it will happen.
None of us have that information.
It could be any second now. It could be only a
twinkling away.
Whenever it is, I know this:
Jesus promised He'd be back to get us. Maybe
today will be that day when God announces, ..."It's
time to go get them." I'll
meet you in the air.
If
not today, someday soon. Have a "Wonderful DAY in Christ," |
