July 2,
2002 -- Issue #590 "For
the wages of sin is death, We
were playing some golf and decided to break for lunch.
My
friend and I had worked up quite an appetite during our
first 9 holes of the course, and decided to grab a bite to
eat before approaching the "back 9." So,
we headed to the clubhouse.
Ordered some grub and dove right in. My,
my, my was it good!
I love food anyway, but when you're hungry, it sure
does taste great.
:o) We
finished our meal, and prepared to pay.
It
was then that my friend realized he didn't have any way to
pay for his meal. He
had created a bill he couldn't pay, created a debt that was
his, that he was unable to remove on his own. I
realized the situation, and having the means to pay for his
as well as my own, I stepped in and said to him... ..."I'll
pay for yours." My
friend, naturally, was very grateful.
Without my assistance, he would have been in a jam. You
know, each and every one of us face a similar, but more more
critical, situation like this one. We
run up a debt of sin, and find our pockets empty and unable
to pay for our transgressions. Yep,
we eat of the things of this world, we feast on the fleshly
desires, and for a season, it tastes great. But,
there comes a time to pay. And
we soon realize that we don't have any way to pay for the
debt we've created.
We are unable to remove the stain of sin on our own. But,
praise God, Jesus is there.
He knows the situation. He has the means to pay for
our sins, and He steps in and says to each and every one of
us... ..."I'll
pay for yours." In
fact, He has already paid our debt in full when He shed His
blood on Calvary! What
a Savior! Christian,
today is a great day to rejoice in the Lord for His
matchless, amazing grace! And,
it's also a great day to tell sinners -- sinners who are
lost and bound for eternity in hell -- that Jesus has died
on the Cross to take care of the bill that they have run up. Today,
when you come into contact with someone who doesn't know the
Savior, share that message with them.
Let them know that there is a bill that they are
unable to pay, that their pockets are empty when it comes to
a way to cover their sin debt. And,
remind them that Jesus looks at their sin, and loves them so
much, and says sweetly as only He can say... ..."I'll
pay for yours." Have a "Wonderful DAY in Christ," |
