January 25,
2000 -- Issue #94 "Therefore
if any man be in Christ, Anagrams
are really neat! An
anagram is a word or phrase formed by reordering the letters
of another word or phrase, such as satin
to stain.
(By the way, that's the definition supplied by The
American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language, Third
Edition, Copyright 1996, 1992 by Houghton Mifflin Company.) Basically,
to form an anagram, you take the letters from a word or
phrase and rearrange them, using all the letters, to form a
new word or phrase. I
am intrigued by this kind of stuff, so I took some words and
rearranged them to form anagrams.
Here are a few of the ones that I discovered. When
you take the word "Christian" and rearrange it,
using the exact same letters, you get "rich
saint".
Pretty neat, huh?
After all, we Christians are rich saints of God in
Christ Jesus!
Then, there is an obvious one in "calvary."
Rearrange it and you have "cavalry."
Didn't God send in the calvary to save us from our
sins on Calvary? There
are lots of interesting ones.
"Testament" becomes "statement."
Isn't that way a testament is...a statement about the
Lord Jesus Christ?
What about "Son of God?"
Rearrange it and you have "song food."
Christ puts a new song in our heart and is the
"Bread of Life." "Jesus
Christ" becomes "riches justs."
One of my favorites is "Good News."
It becomes an anagram in two forms.
"Down goes" - down goes sin when you accept
Christ...that's the Good News.
"Good News" can also be "we
godson."
The Bible says that we have the right to call
ourselves the Sons of God. Like
I said, anagrams are neat.
It's interesting how you can take a word and
rearrange things and make it into a completely different
word.
The letters are the same, but the word has changed.
The old word has become a new word. Reminds
me of what Jesus did in my life.
You see, He took my old life and gave me a new life.
He came into my life and rearranged things and made
me into a completely different person.
Oh, the shell is the same, but who I am has changed.
The old man has become a new creature.
(2 Corinthians 5:17) Go
ahead.
Ask around.
See if I'm telling you straight.
Go to my high school buddies or my college buddies
and ask them if they see a difference.
Check at the places that I have worked.
Visit the gym where I worked out and the video store
that I used to rent videos at and the music store where I
purchased CDs.
Ask them.
They'll tell you... ...I'm
not the person I used to be. You
see, there was a time when I drank every weekend, sometimes
throughout the week. I experimented with drugs.
I lied and cheated and didn't care a thing about
anyone else's needs.
I ran out with as many girls as I could.
My life was a wreck... ...and
Christ got hold of me and cleaned up my house.
He rearranged things and cleansed my sins and made me
into something that I never dreamed I would be.
He's got that kind of power, you know.
He can reach deep down in whatever pit you are in and
pull you out, placing you on solid ground. Yeah,
I like anagrams.
I like them even more when Jesus goes to work on
someone's heart.
My life is living proof that He is real and still
works miracles today. My
life is an anagram. Is yours? Have a "Wonderful DAY in Christ,"Jimmy D. Brown \o/ Praise Jesus! |
