A RAGS TO RICHES STORY

"Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God
chosen the poor of this world rich in faith,
and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised
to them that love Him?" - James 2:5

It's a wonderful story to share with others!

Four  years ago, Kurt Warner was working nights at a local grocery store, stocking groceries.  He had been without a vehicle for transportation.  When he met his wife, she was barely surviving on food stamps.  They struggled along together, with two children, somehow making ends meet.

Last night, Kurt Warner put the finishing touches on, arguably, the greatest single season in National Football League history ever by a quarterback, when he lead the St. Louis Rams to Super Bowl victory over the Tennessee Titans.

Warner passed for a Super Bowl record 414 yards and was named the game's MVP.  This after he had already been named the entire league's MVP, having surpassed 41 touchdowns and 4,353 yards during the regular season. (for you non-football fans, these are incredible numbers, only having been equaled once previously in NFL history!)

Sometime in the next few months, Kurt Warner will become a multi-millionaire due to the endorsement opportunities and a new contract.

And, you know what Kurt Warner said last night upon the podium when he was named the MVP?  When Kurt Warner stood in front of tens of thousands of screaming fans; with millions of people watching on television, literally around the world; when he was the hero, the center of attention; at the climax, at the pinnacle, as he stood in the limelight, Kurt Warner said...

... "First things first, I want to thank my Lord and Savior up above."  Then, holding  the Super Bowl trophy high above his head he shouted with enthusiasm, "Thank you Jesus!"

This rags to riches story is a wonderful story to share with others, and, what makes it even better, is that Kurt Warner used it to lift up the Name of Jesus Christ, instead of exalting himself.

My friend, I never have played in the Super Bowl.  Heck, I never have played in the "not so super" bowl. ;-)  I've never stood before 50,000 people, while millions of others looked on via t.v.   I've never had that kind of platform...

...but I do have a rags to riches story to tell.

You see, before I came to Christ, my righteousness was as filthy rags. (Isaiah 64:6).  That's right.  I was dirty.  Stained with sin. Unclean....like filthy rags.  Poor.  I was in spiritual bankruptcy.

But, the great Stain Remover came along, and Jesus made me clean.  He took that sin-stained life and washed it white as snow. "Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool."

What's more.  He got me out of bankruptcy court.  You see, I am rich in Him.  The Bible tells me in Galatians 4:7 that I am a son, in fact, an heir of God, through Christ.  Not only do I have the spiritual riches of peace, joy, hope, love, guidance, assurance (and the list could go on and on!) down here, right now...but I also have the riches that are laid up for me when the Lord calls me home!

Talk about a rags to riches story to tell!

Christian, you have that same rags to riches story to share with those in your pathway.   Oh, you may not stand before the microphone with the cameras flashing and the whole world watching...but you do have a platform that the Lord has given exclusively to you.  He has given you an audience of friends, neighbors, co-workers, family members and even strangers, to share what Jesus has done in your life.

You see, if you have been born again, brought from darkness to light, washed of your sins...then others need to know about it. Today, others need to hear about what Jesus has done in your life. After all...

...it's a wonderful story to share with others!
